“During my time in the NBA, I played for the Suns, the Spurs, the Mavericks, and the Celtics. But one of my favorite jerseys of all time is the one I wore for the Wisconsin Badgers back in college,” Finley said in a video announcing his speech. (Photo courtesy of UW-Madison)

  • Born and raised in Maywood, Illinois, Finley played for the Badgers from 1991-95. He left UW as the all-time leading scorer in Wisconsin men’s basketball history. The university retired his No. 24 jersey last year, making it the third basketball jersey in school history to be hung at the Kohl Center.

❄️ Terrace Chairs Go Into Hibernation

  • Summer is officially over and so is Terrace season. The iconic yellow, green, and orange sunburst tables and chairs have been removed from the Memorial Union Terrace and put into storage for the winter. You’ll still be able to enjoy the lake views either from inside the union or outside on one of the 350 non-sunburst brown chairs, 72 brown patio tables, and 20 picnic tables that will be out on the terrace. Should An Algorithm Decide UW Student Success?

UW Madison has started tracking students who rank at the bottom of their classes. The idea is to find students who need extra help and get it to them, while there’s still time for them to turn it around.

But some faculty worry that matters are being taken out of their hands. And some students are concerned that taking away responsibility for their own success could be counterproductive.
