Good morning, Madison!

Don’t forget I’m on the hunt for Madison’s best pizza. I want to hear from as many of you as possible. So far, almost 50 people have shared their thoughts! Can we double that?

🏃 On Your Marks…

  • The Madison Marathon is this weekend. Road closures have been in the works since last month and race day is right around the corner on Nov. 12. The big shabang kicks off at 7 a.m. Runners will go around Lake Monona, through Tenney Park, UW Campus, Camp Randall, and back to the Capitol, with the last runners finishing around 1:30pm. 💿 The Next Generation of Strictly Discs

  • This week, the Monroe Street record shop celebrated its 35th anniversary and announced a change in ownership. Founders Ron and Angie Roloff have sold their business to Rick Stoner, a UW-Madison alum and former advertising and marketing executive. The Roloffs will still be at the store through the end of the year and will maintain a presence in the future. [Cap Times]
  • "I've been a Strictly Discs customer since I was a student here in Madison. I view the store as everything right about the culture of the Madison community and look forward to maintaining that presence,” Stoner said.

🚫 Traffic is Coming

  • Starting Nov. 13, John Nolen Drive will be reduced to one lane in each direction. (Yikes!)
  • Why? So the city can work on several projects within the Monona Terrace tunnel, including stormwater piping replacement and fire alarm electrical work.
  • How long will this last? The city expects work to be completed by Dec. 22.
  • What to expect: Lots of traffic, especially during rush hours. Use alternate routes when possible or factor in extra time when planning trips. Here’s a map for reference. [City of Madison]

Friday Floof

Riley is a short-haired chestnut and white dog. she's standing in front of a body of water with a serious look on her face
Riley was rescued from Louisiana and has fully embraced her Wisconsin life.

Happy Friday, friends! Meet this week’s floof Riley. Her humans call her a "Louisiana Designer Dog" because she’s a little mix of everything. Sweet Riley was rescued from Louisiana by the folks at CoCo's Heart Dog Rescue in Somerset. You might find her at one of Dane County’s many dog parks or snowshoeing on our frozen lakes, hiking at state parks, or swimming in Lake Michigan up in Door County (where she works part-time in the summers as a Very Serious Lifeguard).

Share your floof with the Madison Minutes community!
