What's CITY Talking About?

🏥 UW Health Nurses Sound the Alarm

  • Nurses at UW Health are calling on state officials to address chronic understaffing issues plaguing the healthcare system, saying the problems are affecting patient care. This is the latest escalation in the ongoing labor dispute between the nurses and the system, which has centered around worker burnout, turnover, and understaffing. [Wisconsin Examiner]
  • “Nurses are so frazzled and extremely understaffed in the UW surgical department that serious accidents affecting patients have happened and will continue to happen if action isn’t taken — it’s absolutely heartbreaking,” UW Health nurse Sara Booth said in a statement. [WPR]

🍝 Tutto Pasta is Moving

  • After more than two decades on State Street, Tutto Pasto will move out of its corner building and merge with its sister restaurant Sass on Capitol Square. The restaurant’s last day of operation at 305 State St. will be Nov. 27. The new hybrid restaurant — named Tutto with a Touch of Sass — will open Dec. 1. Sass, which stands for “sauce and shells,” opened in 2022. [Madison Magazine]
  • Why the move? Put lightly, the building Tutto currently occupies is old and needs a lot of expensive repairs. After suffering losses due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the restaurant’s owner said finances played a big role in the decision to move.

🦃 Help Your Neighbors This Thanksgiving

  • The Goodman Center’s Thanksgiving Basket Drive is in need of donations. For the last 35 years, the Goodman Center has provided families from across Dane County with everything they need to make a traditional Thanksgiving meal at home. This year, more than 4,000 people have signed up for baskets and the Goodman Center needs help filling them. [Goodman Center]
  • Food donations can be dropped off at the Goodman Center gym at 149 Waubesa St. this week from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
