🥬 Madison Farm Ends Community Supported Program

  • Troy Farm is ending its CSA, community supported agriculture program, citing financial and logistic difficulties. The urban farm on the north side of Madison has been growing certified organic vegetables for over 20 years.
  • Rooted, the organization that operates the farm, said the cost of maintaining the program, and challenges in obtaining funding, among others, made the program unsustainable. Rooted also runs community education programs, provides food access, and runs small-scale growing operations.
  • Director Paul Huber estimates their CSA serves 400 people. Last year, the program had 176 paying members and 38 people engaged in worker shares. [Cap Times]

Take Me Home Tuesday

Why is she the absolute cutest!? (Courtesy of Dane County Humane Society)

📣 Stellllllaaaaaaa! For this week’s Take Me Home Tuesday, Dane County Humane Society would like you to meet this sweet, fluffy girl, Stella! This adult bunny is as soft as velvet, and she’s a lady who knows what she wants in life: veggies, exploring, and stretching her long legs.

She has great litter habits and loves exploring tunnels, specifically cat tunnels or DIY tunnels made out of boxes. This sweetie likes the occasional petting, but she’ll let you know when she wants some lovin’ or not. Stella is looking for a home where she can hop around and explore, and for a forever family who will spoil her with veggies 🥕 (This girl’s already hip to Madison’s hottest food trend!)
