What's CITY Talking About?

🚦 Downtown Weekend Traffic
- Starting at 7 a.m. today, South Blair Street will be reduced to one traffic lane in each direction between Willy Street and Railroad Street by Madison Gas and Electric. Why? Sanitary sewer lining project. The city says lane closures will last through the weekend. [City of Madison]
🦡 What To See At UW’s Open House
- In case you missed it, UW-Madison is celebrating its 175th anniversary this year. As part of the celebration, the university is hosting an open house April 5-7 featuring more than 60 events around campus.
- Some of the highlights include Babcock Dairy Observation Deck tours, a metalsmithing demonstration, the Wisconsin Athletics Family Fun Fair, and checking out the 143-year-old telescope at Washburn Observatory. You can see a full list of events here. All events are free and open to the public.
- Dig deeper: Get to know the campus neighborhood. [UW-Madison, Madison Minutes]
🤔 Got BRT Qs?
- Next week, the City Cast Madison team will be producing a podcast all about bus rapid transit, otherwise known as BRT. To help guide the conversation and make the episode useful to you, we want your input! What questions do you have about BRT? Send us an email.
- If you’ve ever wondered who the voice of Madison Metro is, we already answered that question. [City Cst Madison 🎧]

Unpacking Presidential Votes, Snowy Polling Places, and UW Parental Leave
The City Cast team is here to round up the news of the week. Bianca Martin, Hayley Sperling, and Molly Stentz recap Tuesday’s election in Wisconsin, including the nearly 50,000 democratic voters who chose “uninstructed” and the 100,000 republican voters who picked anyone but Trump. And why did some Madisonians have to vote outside in the snow at Rennebohm Park and what is the city doing about it? We have answers! Plus, the UW system will now offer employees six weeks of family leave.

✏️ Thanks to City Cast Madison editor Molly Stentz!
