📣 Protests Spread Off Campus
- Following days of protests on the UW-Madison and UW-Milwaukee campuses, Madison high school students have joined the ongoing call to end the conflict in the Middle East. Dozens of students from West High School marched to the Capitol building Thursday carrying signs that read "Free Palestine."
- The latest at UW: Meanwhile on the Madison campus, protest leaders met with UW administrators including Chancellor Jennifer Mnookin to discuss Wednesday’s arrests and police action. The chancellor guaranteed no further police action would take place before the groups meet again Friday morning.
- Nine Dane County Supervisors signed a letter addressed to Sheriff Kalvin Barrett addressing their disappointment at the sheriff’s office involvement in Wednesday’s arrests. “As public officials, acting in the public’s interest, we must not succumb to any impulse for action that will silence activists working to shape public discourse through peaceful means,” the group wrote. 🚫 West Side Road Closure
- Starting Monday, South Owen Drive, between Regent Street and Hillcrest Drive, will fully close for reconstruction. Crews will be working to replace asphalt, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, and more. The work is expected to wrap up in September. [City of Madison]
