Good morning, Madison! Somehow it’s Thursday already? In case you missed it, I’m still taking summer bucket list suggestions.
Tell me what your favorite Madison summer activities and adventures are.

What's CITY Talking About?
🍺 Coming Soon: Lone Girl and The Cat's Brew
- Waunakee-based Lone Girl Brewing is opening a taproom in Madison. The new spot will be in the former O’so Brewing Co. space in The Marling on East Washington Avenue. The taproom will have both indoor seating and a patio. In addition to beer, it will also serve cocktails, wine, and Roman-style pizza. The spot is expected to open later this month.
- Calling all cat lovers! The Madison area is (finally) getting a cat café. The Cat's Brew is expected to open later this summer in Sun Prairie. The spot will offer a variety of specialty coffee drinks and desserts, and of course, the opportunity to hang out with local — and adoptable! — cats. The last time Madison had a cat café was in 2016, when Cat Cafe Mad opened on Monroe Street, but it closed in 2018. [Wisconsin State Journal]
🏳️🌈 Middleton’s First Pride
- The city of Middleton will hold its first-ever community-led LGBTQ+ Pride event this weekend. Middleton Pride will take place at Stone Horse Green June 8, offering family-friendly fun like DJs, games, food, drag queens, and more. [Channel 3000]
🥦 Madison’s Vegan Chef Challenge
- Looking for something new? Several Madison restaurants are taking part in the Vegan Chef Challenge. It’s a month-long event that showcases vegan menu items created by chefs at local restaurants. Diners can vote for their favorite dishes online.
- Some of the local participating restaurants include JustVeggiez, Mad Rabbit Cafe, Roll Play, and Mishqui Cocina Peruana.

Defining the Flavors of Madison
There’s a cookbook out that showcases the ingredients and flavors of Madison. And we’re gonna stop ya right there, it is WAY more than brats and cheese curds. It features recipes from the farmers, chefs, and shoppers who frequent the Dane County Farmers’ Market, one of the oldest and largest in the country. With recipes for curtido, panzanella, ratatouille, and gorgeous photos of the food and the people behind them, it’s a celebration of all who call Madison home.
