What's CITY Talking About?
🫔 El Sabor De Puebla to Open Second Location
- The popular Mexican restaurant is opening its second location on the North Side, across from Warner Park. They predict that it could open as soon as the end of July.
- The new location will have the same name and menu, but co-owner Reyna Gonzalez Torres says that they are considering adding guisados (stews) and possibly a buffet on weekends. [🔒WSJ]
💭 Leaving a Legacy
- Frank Emspak, a local labor activist, scholar, and journalist, passed away June 15. He was 80 years old.
- Emspak is known for his impact on the labor movement at both the local and national level. He played a key role in creating a student peace movement during the Vietnam War. In 1998, he co-founded Madison Labor Radio on WORT 89.9 FM, which he produced from its founding to his death. [Tone Madison]
👋🏼 Goodbye Essen Haus
- After 42 years, Essen Haus is getting ready to permanently close its doors. The property will be turned into apartments and a hotel as a part of a new development project.
- There’s no start date for the project yet, but it has been approved by city council. Though Essen Haus will be no more, the adjacent buildings that are home to Come Back In and Up North Pub will not be demolished. [WKOW]

Why Madison Has the Best Flag
Did you know Madison has one of the best flags in the country? Host Bianca Martin sits down with Ted Kaye, the nation’s foremost authority on flag design and author of the NAVA booklet “‘Good’ Flag, ‘Bad’ Flag”, to discuss what makes a well-designed flag, why Madison’s flag is so great (and Wisconsin’s isn’t…), and what makes a tattoo-worthy flag.
