How’s it going, Madison? A little update from our production assistant Marty. He is doing great and has two things to say — tell all of your friends to read Madison Minutes and listen to the City Cast Madison podcast! How could you say no to him 🐶
All things weekend are on the deck for today’s newsletter and it looks like it’s going to be a great one.

- Volunteers must be available Aug. 29 from 6-7 p.m. for training and reviewing will then take place between Sept. 9 to Oct. 5. Applications are due Aug. 1 at 11:59 p.m. [City of Madison]
😢 Say Goodbye to Amara
- Amara — the Italian restaurant at Hilldale — announced it will close its doors for good on July 27. The restaurant opened October 2022 from the team that runs Lucille, Merchant, and Todofresco.

💵 Changes in Pay for Wisconsin Chancellors
- Eight chancellors of Wisconsin’s public universities, including UW-Madison’s Jennifer Mnookin, will receive pay raises as part of a retention effort.
- This is the second pay raise for some Wisconsin chancellors this year. After this increase, Mnookin will earn more than $892,000 as her base pay. But for context, several other Big Ten university chancellors earn more than she does. [Cap Times]
🌷 Temporary New Location for Farmers Market
- For those planning to go to the Farmers Market this Saturday, it will be held at Breese Stevens Field. Why? Art Fair On the Square will be taking over the market’s usual location.
- Volunteers are needed from 5:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. to help move vendors’ supplies from the entrance of the stadium onto the field.
