🇺🇲 What to know for Labor Day in Madison

🗑️ No Trash Collection on Labor Day

• On Monday, Sept. 2 there will be no trash collection. If your trash is normally collected on Mondays, you should put your trash out by 6:30 a.m. on Sept. 3.
• There will also be no large item collection and drop-off sites will be closed. [City of Madison]

💵 Changes to Filing Taxes in Wisconsin

• Wisconsin residents can now file their taxes online for free, as the state has joined the national rollout of the Internal Revenue Service Direct File program.
• The program is designed to save Americans time and money by allowing them to file directly for free. This will begin for Wisconsin in 2025 for state and federal taxes.
• But this won’t be available for everyone. Those who haven’t recently filed a Wisconsin Tax return or only filed for part of the year won’t be eligible. [Cap Times]

🩸 Blood Drive on UW-Madison Campus

• Due to the ongoing need for blood donations, the Red Cross will hold a blood drive at the Nicholas Recreation Center from September 3 to 5, running daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• To donate, you will need a blood donor card, driver's license, or two other forms of identification. [Channel 3000]
