🚌 Get On Board

  • There will be two open house events for community members to check out the new Bus Rapid Transit system. These events will show off the news buses, routes, and an opportunity to ask questions.
  • The open houses will take place on Sept. 6 from 12-3 p.m. and Sept. 10 from 4-7 p.m. at the Baldwin Street Station on E. Washington Ave.

🛣️ Street Closures Starting Today

  • The Hancock and Wilson street intersection will be closed until Sept. 10. Hancock will become a two-way street for the interim and there will be no access to Wilson from Hancock.
  • The construction is due to storm and sanitary sewer replacement work. [City of Madison]

☣️ What Are Forever Chemicals?

  • New research from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health shows that most Wisconsin residents have forever chemicals, known as per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances, in their blood. These PFAs are manufactured, indigestible chemicals that accumulate in organisms as they move up the food chain.
  • In humans, PFAs bond to proteins in the liver, kidney, and blood cells, and are linked to health issues like cancer, changes in metabolism, lower birth weight, and changes in puberty. [Channel 3000]

Take Me Home Tuesday

Meet the dazzling Dazzle! (Dane County Humane Society)

Dane County Humane Society (DCHS) would like you to meet Dazzle! She was transferred to DCHS at the end of July from an overcrowded shelter in Texas. At 10 months, she was timid in the shelter environment, so DCHS placed her in a foster home where she is making great strides. While Dazzle continues to be shy about meeting new people, she becomes very snuggly and playful when she becomes comfortable. Dazzle likes meeting other dogs; however, she is not a fan of cats and is looking for a cat-free home. Dazzle’s adoption includes a scholarship to GoodPup, an online training program. She is a member of DCHS’s Lonely Hearts Club, and her adoption fee has been reduced.
