🍺 Camp Randall Alcohol Sales Top $1.2 Million

  • Alcohol sales at Camp Randall appear to be a hit, with the stadium selling over $1.2 million in alcohol since the start of the 2024-25 season.
  • This is the first season that Camp Randall has sold alcohol in the general seating era, making it the 16th out of 18 Big Ten schools to do so.
  • UW officials have had to adjust concession locations at the stadium to accommodate a greater-than-anticipated demand leading to long lines and traffic jams in the concourses. [Cap Times, 🔒BadgerExtra]

🚨 131 Cited For Underage Drinking in Bar Raid

  • Madison police cited 131 people at an unnamed Regent Street establishment for underage drinking in a tavern inspection last Friday night.
  • The 131 people made up over 80% of the patrons at the bar, police said. Fake IDs were also confiscated.
  • Such inspections of bars near the UW-Madison campus often take place shortly after students return to Madison. [WKOW]

👮 Police Launching Family Justice/Sensitive Crimes Unit

  • The Madison Police Department is creating a specialized detective unit called the Family Justice/Sensitive Crimes Unit to respond to cases of domestic and intimate partner violence.
  • Police Chief Shon Barnes said the department has seen a rising number of such incidents, and that two of Madison’s three homicides in 2024 were related to domestic violence. The unit will have specialized training and work with related agencies in Madison, such as Domestic Abuse Intervention Services (DAIS).
  • The unit will officially launch in February and feature two units of eight detectives each, one on the east side and one on the west side. [WKOW]

Meet Juniper and Sebastian! Their owner describes the twins as “black liquid with sharp pointy bits.” Juniper on the left likes playing games – or, at least, knocking game pieces off the table – watching birds, and hanging out in his owner’s underwear drawer.

Sebastian (right) is fond of being skritched without being picked up, open windows, and tap water. Each loves one of the humans better than the other. They were both adopted in 2015 from Angel’s Wish Pet Adoption and Resource Center in Verona.
