What's CITY Talking About?

📬 How Will Mail Slowdown Affect Election?

  • U.S. Postal Service data shows that mail is slower this year than it was in 2020, and Wisconsin mail is among the slowest of the swing states. That has some election observers worried that delays will affect those mailing in their absentee ballots.
  • “That's not fair to people to do everything right and send their ballot in on time and they fill it out correctly, and then they may never even find out that it actually doesn't count,” said Nick Ramos, executive director of the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign.
  • U.S. Postmaster Louis Dejoy said in September before a U.S. House committee that the criticism is unfair, and voters can be confident that their ballots will arrive on time. [Cap Times]

🚨 Security Guard Fired After Racist Rant at McDonald’s

  • A local security agent was fired after being caught on video harassing employees at the McDonald’s on Park Street, including threatening to report them to Immigrations and Customs Enforcement.
  • Employees said Adam Rivers gave an expletive-related rant about slow service, went behind the counter into the kitchen area, and said he was “getting ICE.”
  • He was fired by Star Security and Patrol, a private security firm, after the video was posted on Reddit. [ 🔒WSJ, Reddit]

Take Me Home Tuesday

Meet Brownie! This one-year-old pub came from an overcrowded shelter in Texas, and was fearful when she first arrived. She’s become more comfortable as staff have worked with her and leans in for pets and will roll for belly rubs. She’s also working on leash training and not jumping up when excited, and is doing well with “sit” and “sown” commands.

Brownie is a playful pup looking for a patient family consisting of humans who are teenaged and older who will work with her on her positive reinforcement training, while also spoiling her with pets, fun times, and love.
