🎤 Obama and Yung Gravy want you to vote early

October 23, 2024 · —Rob Thomas

Good morning, Madison! In a growing city, we see lots of news about new housing developments, businesses and restaurants being built. What we don’t see much of is news about new churches. In fact, as Americans become less religious, Reverend Mark Elsdon, outgoing director of Pres House Presbyterian campus ministry, predicts that Madison could lose a third of its churches. On the podcast today, Elsdon talks to Bianca Martin about what the coming wave of “de-churchification” would mean to Madison.

🗳️ Obama, Walz, Yung Gravy Kick Off Early Voting

  • They say politics makes strange bedfellows, and that’s certainly true as in-person absentee voting kicked off in Madison on Tuesday. Former President Barack Obama and Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz packed the Alliant Energy Center Tuesday to urge voters to cast their ballots early.
  • On Wednesday, rapper and UW-Madison alum Yung Gravy will be back in town to promote early voting. After a noon performance at Liquid, the musician will be joined by a brass band to lead a parade to the UW Memorial Union, one of the many in-person absentee voting sites in the city.
  • In-person absentee voting differs from what is called “early voting” in other states in that votes are not counted until Election Day. Here’s a full list of locations. [Daily Cardinal, Channel 3000, City of Madison]
