🏫 Lawmakers Discuss Removing UW-Madison From System

  • The Legislative Council Study Committee looking at the future of the Universities of Wisconsin (formerly known as the UW System) met for the final time and voted on 19 recommendations, including separating UW-Madison from the System.
  • Both UW-Madison Chancellor Jennifer Mnookin and Universities of Wisconsin President Jay Rothman oppose the idea, which would involve creating a second Board of Regents just to oversee the Madison university.
  • The results of the vote were not released. The recommendations will go to the Wisconsin Legislature, which would need to approve any changes to the Universities of Wisconsin structure. [Daily Cardinal]

Meet French Toast! French Toast was found wandering around loose in Middleton in mid-September, and attempts to locate her family failed. She was a little shy at first, but has warmed up to Dane County Humane Society staff and loves getting pets all over, purring with happiness. She’s also snuggly and would make an ideal lap cat. She’d love a quiet home where she can cozy up to a new family and enjoy those pets.
