🏛️ Wisconsinites Tapped for National Political Roles

  • President-elect Donald Trump has nominated former Wisconsin congressman Sean Duffy to serve as the next secretary of the Department of Transportation. Duffy represented northern Wisconsin’s 7th congressional district from 2011 to 2019 and has most recently served as a Fox Business host. You might also know him from that time he was on MTV’s The Real World: Boston back in 1997.

🗳️ Want To Be a Dane County Supervisor?

  • West side Dane County Sup. Aaron Collins resigned last week, leaving a vacancy on the board. Collins represented District 10, which covers part of Madison’s west side surrounding Owens Conservation Park. The seat will be up for election next April, but until then, the vacancy will be filled by a temporary appointment.
  • Anyone interested in filling the role can submit a Declaration of Candidacy and nomination papers by Dec. 2. [Dane County]

🚨 What’s Next For Madison’s Independent Police Monitor

  • After a tough budget season, it wasn’t certain whether or not Madison’s independent police oversight agencies would face the chopping block. Ultimately, the agencies made it to the finish line with most of their funding intact. Today on the City Cast Madison podcast, host Bianca Martin sits down with Greg Gelembiuk, data analyst at Madison’s Office of the Independent Monitor (OIM), to discuss where agencies go from here. Where is this mural? A few clues:

  • This Madison Public Art Project was created out of fibers by Madison artist Kiersten Darling and was crocheted by 90 artists. (It’s very fun to touch!)
  • This mural is located in a community that borders Madison to the south.
  • It’s located on the tennis courts at a park named after the family farm that used to occupy the land.
