🍂 Last Call For Leaf Collection

  • Gather all your leaves and yard waste because the last collection of the year is this Sunday, Dec. 8. You can also drop off your leaves at select locations.
  • Street sweepers will trail the leaf collection crew to grab any leftover debris after collection, weather permitting. Street sweepers need water, so if it’s too cold, they won’t be able to come out. Let’s hope for some slightly warmer temps this weekend! [City of Madison]

🧑‍⚖️ Mayor Requests Myadze’s Removal From Committees

  • Following allegations against District 18 Ald. Charles Myadze ranging from harassment to domestic abuse, Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway has requested to remove Myadze from his five committee seats.

Myadze is also facing a censure resolution from the council. We’ll know the results of these measures after the council’s meeting on Dec. 10.
  • Dig deeper: City Cast Madison recently sat down District 2 Ald. Juliana Bennett who filed an official complaint against Myadze to talk about her experiences. [Madison365, 🎧 City Cast Madison]

This week’s Friday Floof is Lola! Lola is a very sweet and energetic 6-year-old mutt. Her favorite activities include swimming at James Madison Park and sunbathing on the porch. Owner Emmy S. says that although energetic, there’s nothing Lola respects more than a good nap. Can relate.

Do you have a floof you want to see featured in the newsletter?

What To Do

Friday, Dec. 6

📰 Extra! Extra! With temperatures continuing to drop overnight, Porchlight emergency men’s shelter might be even more crowded. When the temperatures drop, Porchlight doesn’t turn anyone away, but they have been over capacity since 2022. The shelter’s growing numbers can be due to numerous issues including Madison’s housing crisis, mental health challenges, or substance abuse.
