🍜 Asian House Reopens After Bus Crash

  • Over two months after a bus crashed into Asian House just off Milwaukee Street, the Chinese restaurant reopened for business Monday.
  • A Metro Transit bus collided with the building on Dempsey Road on Feb. 25 after a passenger attacked the driver. The collision damaged the kitchen of Asian House as well as the offices of QPS Solutions next door.
  • While the owners of the restaurant are happy to be back open, they say the cost of repairs have exceeded their insurance, and they will have to pay the rest out of pocket. [WMTV, News 3]

🗳️ Investigation Finds City Clerk Violated Policy

  • A city investigation determined that former Madison City Clerk Maribeth Witzel-Behl violated city policy and her contract when 193 absentee ballots went uncounted in the Nov. 5 election.
  • Witzel-Behl, who resigned earlier this month after leading the clerk’s office since 2006, violated city policy by failing to properly train staff and demonstrate attention and care for the uncounted ballots, investigators concluded. She also failed to notify city and county officials promptly when the error came to light.
  • Witzel-Behl is also under investigation by the Wisconsin Elections Commission over the incident, but the city investigation concluded that she did not violate state law. [Cap Times, AP]

How To Allergy Proof Your House This Spring

Allergy season can make us feel like we have no control. Out of the blue, you’re suddenly sneezing, and wheezing, and your eyes are so itchy that you feel helpless to Mother Nature’s whims. While you can’t control the seasons, you can control and reduce allergens in your home.

On the City Cast Madison podcast today, Bianca Martin talks with Madison home maintenance expert and social media star Mercury Stardust about how to make your home and your life happy.

What Are Allergens?

Allergens are the antigens that trigger your body’s immune responses to fight off the perceived threats. Allergens often come in the form of pollen, dust mites, and mold spores. They can enter your home through open windows and on the clothes you wore outside.

But never fear, Madison Minutes is here with you your room-by-room guide to an allergen-free home:

🛌 Bedroom

  • Wash sheets, pillowcases, and blankets at least once a week, especially if your doggie who loves to play outside cuddles with you nightly (guilty!).
  • Consider purchasing pillow and mattress covers that are hypoallergenic or dust mite-proof.
  • Vacuum rugs regularly, particularly with a machine that uses HEPA filters.

⬆️ Last Week’s Photo

This mural is located on the side of Burnie’s Rock Shop on Park Street!

🥳 Congratulations to Kate L., Jessica C., and Ben F. for being the first three people to get it right! You all rock!

Do you know where this shelf of dolls (excuse me, action figures) is located?

  • The location is just east of downtown
  • They’re in a restaurant, not a toy store.
  • Despite its name, this cool retro spot is also open for dinner!
