🍺 It’s the end of an era for student drinking

July 28, 2025 · — Rob Thomas

Good morning, Madison! Is there a long-gone restaurant that you miss? Maybe it’s a beloved dish that you’ll never taste again. Or maybe it’s a spot associated with a memory, like a place you went to on a first date with your future spouse (RIP Jac’s.)

We’re putting together a show on Madison’s favorite defunct restaurants (and bars and coffee shops) and we want to hear yours! Email me at [email protected] and let us know what you’re missing, or call us at (608) 318-3367 and leave a message. We’ll feature your responses on the podcast and in the newsletter 🍕

  • Dane County Court Commissioner John Rome issued the order against Jeffrey Rupnow, who is charged with two counts of intentionally giving a weapon to a minor and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Rupnow contends he did not physically give Natalie Rupnow the guns and did not know she was planning to commit a violent act.
  • The Dec. 16 shooting left teacher Erin Michelle West and 14-year-old student Rubi Vergara dead, and six others wounded. Natalie Rupnow also took her own life [AP, 🎧 City Cast Madison]
