🕎 Jewish Group Increases Security For Hanukkah Celebrations
- Following a mass shooting in Sydney, Australia targeting Jewish people, Chabad Madison has increased security for its Hanukkah celebrations this week. The holiday runs through Dec. 22.
- The Wisconsin Jewish Security Network said the state has seen 95 or more antisemitic incidents between 2020 and 2024, with a rise in harassments and incidents targeting Jewish institutions. On Tuesday, a Madison man was charged with disorderly conduct after entering the offices of Jewish Experience Madison on State Street with his hand in his pocket as if he was holding a gun. - Dane County is projected to see its population increase by 58% between 2020 and 2050, according to the Regional Data Group, a consortium of planning and demography specialists.
- The group predicts that the county will have 887,000 residents by 2050, compared to 561,204 in the last census in 2020. The new projection is over 100,000 people higher than that calculated by the state Department of Administration about a year ago.

⚖️ Judge Hannah Dugan Found Guilty of Felony Obstruction
- A jury found Milwaukee Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan guilty of obstructing a federal agency proceeding. The felony conviction centers on an April 18 incident in which prosecutors charged she tried to help an immigrant evade federal agents. Dugan's defense team countered that she was following courtroom guidance..
- After deliberating for six hours Thursday, the jury found Dugan not guilty of a second misdemeanor charge of concealing an individual from arrest. The case has drawn nationwide attention in the midst of the Trump administration’s mass deportation efforts, including arresting and detaining immigrants who appear for their court dates.
