🧊 Evers Getting Ready For ICE to Enter Wisconsin

• Gov. Tony Evers said his administration is “absolutely” preparing for the possibility that federal immigration agents, currently clashing with locals in Minnesota, will come to Wisconsin.
• Evers said his office is speaking daily with people across the state, including nonprofits, tribal leaders, and those who work with immigrants, to make sure Wisconsin is ready. Evers seemed to disagree with Lt. Governor Sara Rodriguez, who is running for the Democratic nomination for governor, after Rodriguez proposed limiting ICE activity near schools, courthouses, and places of worship.
• The turmoil in Minnesota is already having ripple effects at home. Forward Madison is hosting a GoFundMe for an 18-year-old player whose mother was arrested and detained by ICE while the team was in Minneapolis.

⛴️ Former Mariner’s Inn Will Sail On With New Restaurant

• The site of the former Mariner’s Inn in Westport will be home to a new development that combines multi-unit housing with a restaurant on the shore of Lake Mendota.
• The development is scheduled to be finished in spring 2027. The restaurant would have outdoor seating and a dock for boaters to stop in for a meal. Mariner’s Inn was a family-owned restaurant that lasted for 59 years until last summer; no word if the restaurant’s other venture, Betty Lou Cruises, will get another voyage as well. 🏥 Dispute Leaves Dane County Without a Detox Center

• Dane County health officials and an addiction treatment center are blaming each other for why the county no longer has a detox center.
• Tellurian Behavioral Health has been providing detox services to the county for decades, but Tellurian CEO said the county’s reimbursements did not keep pace with rising costs. The Dane County Board approved an extension on the contract, but negotiations between Tellurian and county officials apparently hit an impasse. Tellurian is planning to open a new detox center this fall funded by a private donor.
