Good morning, Madison! School’s out for summer! That’s right, today is the last day of class for Madison schools! If you’re a parent and already struggling with finding stuff to do with the kiddos for the next three months, check out our Madison summer bucket list! ☀️

What's CITY Talking About
😎 Dane County Saw a Tourism Boom in 2025
- In 2025, 9.6 million people visited Madison and Dane County, according to a newly released report from Tourism Economics. That was a record number of visitors, up 5% from the year before. The tourists spent a total of $1.6 billion in the county.
- The record tourism was part of a statewide boom in visitors in 2025. The Wisconsin Department of Tourism said there were a record 117.9 million visits to Wisconsin last year, generating $27 billion in revenue. [WKOW, Travel Wisconsin]
👷 Plan Other Routes Around Midvale and West Dayton
- Starting Friday, Midvale Boulevard between University Avenue and Mineral Point Road will go down to one lane in each direction for road resurfacing. Work is expected to last four to five weeks.
- In addition, West Dayton Street between North Frances Street and North Lake Street will be completely closed between June 15 and July 17 for sanitary sewer replacement. [City of Madison]
🏢 Master Hall’s Future: Demolition or Landmark?
- With the seven-story Brutalist apartment building on West GIlman Street scheduled for demolition, Madison’s Landmark Commission says they’ll hit pause on a landmark designation for the historic building.
- The Plan Commission recommended that Master Hall at 415 West Gilman St. be torn down to make way for a 16-story housing development. A landmark designation would constrain those plans, so the Landmark Commission is suggesting pausing it. If the plans fall through, the designation could be revived.
- Meanwhile, demolition has begun on five residential buildings in the 100 block of North Orchard Street near Union South, making way for an eight-story, 48-unit apartment building. [ 🔒WSJ]

Yeah, this was a tough one. The living room setup is located in the parking lot of Next Wave Studios, a production studio on Helgesen Drive!
🎉 Congratulations to Gretta W.M. and Melissa S. for being the only two people to guess right!
